WebThis M1842 Palmetto musket was initially purchased by it's previous owner from the Rifle Shoppe as a kit. He partially assembled it before selling it to us. We re-built it, correcting the mistakes made by the previous owner and finishing it out. During the process, we replaced the cast Rifle Shoppe lock plate with one of our custom-Palmetto plates. WebThe Hawken Shop-Locks Griffith style locks come completely assembled with cut out for snail machined in place when lock is purchased with hook breech. All parts except springs are cast from 8620 steel. Griffith main springs are forged steel, Ketland main spring and Lehman main spring are cast steel. All moving parts and bridle are case hardened.

WebThe Hawken Shop lock plate is a little shorter (by more than 1/4″) than the standard Ron Long percussion lock. Long switched to using the internals from his late English flintlock in Art Ressel’s Hawken lock.
