It has the most trails on it, IMO. Which is exactly what I need. I usually am trying to figure out the best way to get up on a ridge, or around a mountain, and OnX is more likely to show all the little 2 tracks that wander through remote areas. And now it does Android Auto, which is nice.

As a still-evolving technology, it has incredible potential but falls a bit behind Gaia and CalTopo with the topo map quality, so I might not turn to it for in-field navigation in complex terrain. I am still exploring the differences such as access to and layering of USFS, state lands, historical and curren topo maps and how the GPS markers work. In February 2024 it was acquired by Outside (formerly Outdoor Pocket Media), which also has purchased Backpacker, Trail Runner, Warren Miller, and VeloNews.
