Hierarchical patch dynamics paradigm
WebIn this paper, we apply a dynamically integrated “hierarchical patch dynamics paradigm (HPDP)” to model detailed near-well dynamics and interactions. The HPDP enables converting a large, complex problem into a network of hierarchically nested and dynamically coupled patch models that can be easily solved. WebIn 1995, Wu and Loucks published what Loucks described as "the most important paper I've written" on hierarchical patch dynamics for the journal The Quarterly Review in Biology, titled "From Balance of Nature to Hierarchical Patch Dynamics: A Paradigm Shift in Ecology." This remains one of Wu's most cited works.

Web7 de set. de 2024 · Abstract: Point clouds are a popular representation for 3D shapes. However, they encode a particular sampling without accounting for shape priors or non-local information. We advocate for the use of a hierarchical Gaussian mixture model (hGMM), which is a compact, adaptive and lightweight representation that probabilistically defines … Webthe modeling approach—the hierarchical patch dynamics (HPD) paradigm and the scaling ladder strategy, and then describe the general structure of a hierarchical urban landscape model (HPDM-PHX) which is developed using this modeling approach. WebThe integration between hierarchy theory and patch dynamics has led to the emergence of the hierarchical patch dynamics paradigm (HPDP). In this paper, I shall discuss some major elements of ecological complexity, hierarchy theory, and hierarchical patch dynamics, and then present a hierarchical scaling strategy. Web24 de ago. de 2007 · 1 . Patch dynamics is a new, potentially unifying mechanism for the explanation of tree-grass coexistence in savannas. In this scale-explicit paradigm, savannas consist of patches in which a cyclical succession between woody and grassy dominance proceeds spatially asynchronously.
