WebThe Regina Grey Nuns' Hospital School of Nursing was founded by Sister Cécilia Wagner in 1907, and four students graduated two years later. For many years, nursing education was taught as a three-year program of study, wherein theory was followed by lengthy practical experience, and students provided much of the nursing care on the wards. WebThe school remained in the hospital until 1972 when it was moved to Grant MacEwan Community College. Additional wings were later added to meet the needs of Edmontonians. The last major change to the Edmonton General was the transition to a continuing care centre in 1989, just after the Grey Nuns Hospital was built in southeast Edmonton.
