Works great, and in certain applications, better than a m/c tire. It's not for everyone. Yes, it's safe. Yes, it works. I would not do it on a little bike, personally. Usually the circumstances that would make DS a benefit are big bike, big ride, tough terrain.

I now have just about 11,000 miles on it, I am going to install a Darkside Tire. I have been Darkside on my Valkyrie for about 10 years. I doubt you would be able to use your stock rim. You would probably need to go to a wider rim and try to use a 185 wide tire to give good clearance.
